Jennifer is a native North Carolinian that grew up in Zebulon, North Carolina. Jennifer graduated cum laude in 1998 from North Carolina State University with a B.A. in Sociology and graduated cum laude in 2003 from North Carolina Central University School of Law. In law school, Jennifer served as a member of the senior editorial staff of the North Carolina Central Law Journal and was awarded the Outstanding Family Student Award from the North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 2003.
Jennifer began her legal career as a paralegal, earning her Civil Litigation Paralegal Certificate at Meredith College in 2000. She worked as a paralegal and law clerk while attending law school at North Carolina Central University. Once licensed, Jennifer practiced law in Asheville, NC until 2006. In Asheville, Jennifer was the Secretary of the Asheville Chapter of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys and a member of the Junior League of Asheville.
Jennifer returned to Wake County to practice law in 2006 and was certified as a Family Law Specialist by the North Carolina State Bar in November 2009. Jennifer is currently a member of the Wake County Bar Association and N.C. Bar Association. She was appointed to the North Carolina Bar Association Law Practice Management Section’s Council for a three-year term that ended in 2010. During Jennifer’s term, she co-edited the Law Practice Management Section’s Newsletter. Jennifer also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Family Support Network of Wake County, which was a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and informing families of children with prematurity issues, developmental disabilities, chronic illnesses, and other special needs.
In 2017, Jennifer co-authored Practical Skills for North Carolina Family Law Paralegals Which was published by the North Carolina Bar Association.
Jennifer has participated in the Team in Training Program and trained for the City of Oaks Half Marathon in 2008 and 2010 while raising funds for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family, reading, cooking, running, caring for her rescue fur babies, and being a devoted aunt to her niece and nephew.
